APRIL BIRTHSTONE: Diamond
Diamond is known for its hardness, being composed of pressurized carbon. Its name comes from the Greek word "Adamus", which means "to subdue". It is found in the form of crystals of various colors ranging from black, through yellow to brownish blue or also called colorless, but there are also shades of orange, red, green and violet.
Natural diamonds come mainly from deposits in Brazil, India, some regions of Africa such as Botswana, Congo and Angola, as well as from Australia and Russia. However, there are synthetic diamonds, which undergo an accelerated process, similar to that which natural diamonds undergo over the years. The latter are attributed a lower price than natural diamonds, however, their composition is the same.
The diamond has its holistic properties in its physical properties, symbolizing strength and commitment, as well as fidelity, abundance and wealth. It is also considered a stone related to the 7th chakra, the cleansing of the aura and the connection with divine light. Other benefits considered are vitality, strength, creativity and longevity.
There are many alternatives to natural diamonds. As we mentioned with synthetic diamonds, we also have moissanites, which are stones of beautiful brilliance and clarity, of high value, also made in a laboratory. Likewise, cubic zirconias are synthetic stones of low value and high brilliance that form the most economical alternative among the quality options.
